Globalization a Process of Change that Cannot be Stopped...
Globalization is defined as ââ¬Å"the process by which the experience of everyday life, marked by the diffusion of commodities and ideas, is becoming standardized around the world,â⬠and as ââ¬Å"a process fueled by, and resulting in, increasing cross-border flows of goods, services, money, people, information, and culture.â⬠Presently, globalization has been transpiring at a rather rapid rate. While this increased rate of globalization is a recent phenomenon, globalization has been happening long before the 1980s when its name first widely became used. Since this recent acceleration of globalization people have become fascinated with the process, and consequently there have been many people who believe that globalization can be stopped. Thoughâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦What they fail to point out is that though countries were moving a way from globalization friendly policies at this time, people throughout the world had already begun to be exposed to a globalized li festyle, and they were not going to turn back from this. International trade has become so important that we cannot survive without it, meaning that from an economic aspect we could not end globalization without major problems. Ever since people began to read about how specialization can be used to increase economic productivity, in Adam Smithââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"On the Wealth of Nations,â⬠governments have been moving to specialize, producing the products that their nation is best suited to produce. This idea really began to take off during the 19th centuryââ¬â¢s increase in globalization. Before World War I and World War II, Great Britain faced enormous problems because it became so used to importing foods and raw materials prior to the wars during the 19th increase in globalization. Since then countries have only become more dependent on international trade, which consequentially has made countries dependent upon one another.
